Mumbai Metro One
A Mumbai Metro One spokesperson said, ” Mumbai Metro One will start operations in graded manner from Monday October 19, 2020 from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm. Mumbai Metro One has now devised critical measures to ensure that the services are safe for every person on Metro premise, thus keeping the spread of Covid-19 at bay.”
When asked if the services would be thrown open for general public, an official said that a Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) was awaited from the government of Maharashtra about the operations.
Some of the key initiatives to provide a safe and hygienic travel experience include necessary arrangements to maintain social distance at all touch points such as – station entry gates, ticketing counters, frisking areas, platforms and trains. Commuters would be requested to occupy alternate seats and stand on designated floor markers inside the trains.
Every entrant in Metro station will be screened through non-contact thermal screening devices and at ticketing counters, no plastic tokens will be issued. Instead commuters will be encouraged to opt for digital tickets, smart cards or paper QR tickets.
Temperatures inside the coaches will be maintained at 25-27 degree centigrade and fresh air supply will be increased by adjusting the damper opening. Train doors will remain open for 30 seconds at all stations and 180 seconds at terminal stations to let fresh air into the coaches. A special disinfection protocol has been created and the housekeeping staff has been trained for upgraded cleaning & sanitization practices and regular disinfection of entire station area and all trains will be carried out at frequent intervals. Sanitizers will be made available at various points inside the stations for all commuters.
Entry points at every station will be limited in order to ensure effective crowd management, screening and further movement into station areas with suitable communication and directions on display. A Metro One Health Committee has been formed to keep track & monitor new initiatives set in place.
Mumbai Monorail
Officials said No Mask No Travel policy has been adopted by Monorail. Passengers will be permitted to travel only while wearing proper masks. Only passengers with the Aarogya Setu app showing safe status will be allowed to board the Monorail.
